The Snooty Fox – Great Bromley.

After a morning cycle rain around Tiptree in the dry (dry being a rare event in the August of 2010 in Essex), late afternoon suddenly brightened up, and offered blue skies, fluffy white clouds and a bit of sun. On the spur of the moment I swiftly put into operation a Cunning Plan that I [...]

Sudbury in the sun

Sudbury is  a lovely town to visit for its small shops,  old buildings, hidden lanes, the Kingfisher Leisure Centre, and the River Stour. We visited Audley End early last summer, before we started Essex Days Out, and made a return visit today. It’s over to the west of Essex, and we drove along the A120 and then headed up the B1084 through the delightful village of Thaxted.

Chelmsford Theatres Autumn Season

The autumn season brochure for the Crampthorn Theatre and the Civic Theatre in Chelmsford is now available. I thought I was over it, but the brochure did bring back the humiliation in about 1982 or 1983 when the pair of us were queuing up outside the Crampthorn Theatre, thinking we were in the queue to [...]
