We’ve set up Essex Days Out to help you make the most of your time in Essex, whether you’re visting for the day, on holiday for a week, or have been living in Essex for the whole of your life!
There is information about the seaside, castles, countryside, towns and villages, and much, much more! Essex Days Out is brought to you by two librarians – one with a keen interest in local history and who is a Colchester Tourist Guide, and one who is the brains behind the technology. We aim to make sure that the information on Essex Days Out is up to date, useful, and entertaining.
We’ve been blogging about our days out in Essex since we set up the site in September 2009, so there are a number of pubs, restaurants, historic houses, gardens and the like already covered – with more to come! Use the menu at the top of the site to browse listings of places to visit, and to look at the monthly events listings we provide.
Please do make use of the comment boxes on the site, and please do contact us directly by email (essexdaysout@gmail.com). You can follow us on Twitter (@EssexDaysOut) and sign up for our monthly email newsletter.
If you are coming to Colchester and want a tour, we can provide personally tailored tours of the town for individuals or groups, and take you to some of the nearby countryside – we can get you to Constable Country in less than half an hour. We’ve got a wide range of expertise – ranging from real ale, to cycling, to books and art, and have brought up two children in Essex so can help whether it’s the best beaches for toddlers, or antiques hunting for those of us whose children are now grown up!
