We set up Essex Days Out in 2009 to help you make the most of your time in Essex, whether you’re visiting for the day, on holiday for a week, or have been living in Essex for the whole of your life. We’ve been going on days out in Essex together for 30 years, and like to think we know quite a bit about the subject!
You will find information about the seaside, historic buildings, countryside, towns and villages, and much, much more!
Essex Days Out is brought to you by two librarians. Josie has lived in Essex all her life. She has a keen interest in local history and is a Colchester Blue Badge Tourist Guide, and rather misses having young children to take out on day trips in Essex.
Mark is the brains behind the technology. If you are after a website of your own, find out what he can do for you at Dinky Little Websites.
We aim to make sure that the information on Essex Days Out is up to date, useful, and entertaining. Unlike other sites we don’t take payments for listings, and never promote a destination or event on a commercial basis.
Please do make use of the comment boxes on the site, and please do contact us directly by email (firstname.lastname@example.org). You can follow us on Twitter (@EssexDaysOut) and sign up for our regular email newsletter.
If you are coming to Colchester and would like to learn more about this historic town from an expert, we can provide personally tailored tours for individuals or groups, and take you to some of the nearby countryside – we can get you to Constable Country and Dedham Vale in less than half an hour. We’ve got a wide range of expertise and we have brought up two children in Essex so can help whether it’s the best beaches for toddlers, or antiques hunting for those of us whose children are now grown up!
