Gallery in the Garden

This a a small, exclusive gallery which hosts a small number of exhibitions a year. It is a part of the North Essex Saling Grove Estate, whose grounds were originally designed by Sir Humphrey Repton. Before planning a visit, check their website for opening hours and details of current exhibitions.

Colchester Institutes’s Fine Art and Design Department have recently taken over the Minories. It is a beautiful venue for contemporary art exhibitions and talks. There is also the tea room run by Wilkin & Son, and in the good weather a delightful garden to sit in – complete with its own folly.
