Burnham on Crouch

About Burnham on Crouch

On the north bank of the River Crouch, with a major yachting community, and several yachting clubs. There’s a small market on the High Street every Tuesday, and farmers/artisan market on the third Sunday of each month.

Getting there and out and about

Served by a train station, otherwise a journey along some narrow lanes across the Dengie Peninsula, SE of Maldon.

The Mangapps Railway Museum is nearby.

Watch out for the ‘Burnham Art Trail’, and ‘Burnham Week’, which is a hive of activity, and well worth a trip even if you aren’t a yachty type. Our recommendation for setting a lot of the town : heading over the railway bridge as you enter town, turn right and park in the station car park. Come out of the station car park and turn right onto Foundry Lane, and walk to the bottom of that until you get to the Marina. Bear left to get onto the promenade and walk all the way down into town until you get to the yacht clubs, then turn left and walk back up through the High Street. You’ll get the opportunity for some photos like this :
