I’ll be leading a variety of guided walks across Essex and Suffolk during 2018.
I’m going to be involved in a number of festivals during the year, including the Essex Book Festival, The Suffolk Walking Festival and the Resorting to the Coast Festival which will be running on the Essex Coast around Clacton, Frinton and Walton on the Naze.
I’ll also be taking part in walks run by the Lavenham and Sudbury Tourist Information Centres, and for the Colchester Visitor Information Centre where I’ll be leading a couple of walks as part of their 2018 season of themed walks.
The Essex Book Festival 2018: The Essex Serpent and Other Colchester Literary Connections Saturday 17th March 2:00pm. Throughout its history, Colchester has been the inspiration and setting for many novels, both well-known and not so well-known. We’ll go on a literary quest to discover serpents, detectives, serving wenches and many other characters and their creators who have known the streets of Colchester.
The Suffolk Walking Festival Monday 21st May Sudbury: Weave Around a Wool Town. This is a walk around the thriving market town of Sudbury, where you’ll be able to discover its rich heritage and hear how the weaving trades and its residents shaped the town as we make our way around Sudbury’s attractive streets.
Resorting to the Coast. Sunday 1st April, Sunday 27th May, Sunday 29th July, Sunday 16th September, Clacton walk at 11:00am and Frinton walk at 2:00pm each day. In
Clacton join me on a walk to discover tales of sandcastles and deckchairs on the beach, boat rides, thrills on the pier, fish and chip suppers and variety shows in the evening. And to round off your walk why not stop for fish and chips and a cup of tea on the promenade.
You might like to join me on a walk to discover the jolly times and fun visitors had at lovely Frinton-on-Sea. They say there was tea on the lawn, games on the beach and such fun playing tennis at the club. Hear stories about this most exclusive seaside town. You could round off your walk in true genteel Frinton style with lunch at one of the tearooms on Connaught Avenue.
Colchester – Themed Guided Walks: The Essex Serpent Walk is being organised by the Colchester Visitor information Centre as part of the Essex Book Festival. I am also leading another themed walk called Colchester at War Saturday 30th June, 2:00pm. This year we mark the centenary of the ending of the 1st World so join me a guided walk around Colchester town centre, to hear stories about life on the Home Front in Colchester during both World Wars.
