Spy Kids Half Term at the Royal Gunpowder Mills – “join us in your best disguise to break codes, go undercover, foil espionage and reveal double-agents; there’ll be secrets to uncover and missions to complete all week. Professor Nitrate’s doing some highly hush-hush work, and you can help keep his secrets under wraps” – more details

May half term at RHS Hyde Hall – there are activities running each day for children to take part in, plus special activity days throughout the week – more details

Fool School at Audley End House and Gardens – “feeling foolish? Want to learn how to turn a miserable monarch into a sniggering sovereign? Meet masters of mirth this half term at Audley End as they entertain you with their pithy plays. There’ll be stories aplenty and the chance to learn some of the skills and tricks used by court fools to entertain royalty” – more details

Make A Police Car at Essex Police Museum – sit in a real police car and then make your own – more details

Be a Farmer at Barleylands – “young farmers wanted for stacks of extra activities this half term! Feed and care for farmyard friends, grow your own vegetables, watch heavy horse shows, groom goats, bottle feed lambs and decorate biscuits. Make sure you bring some old clothes too so you can make and dress a scarecrow to win prizes” – more details

Beautiful Bugs at Highwoods Country Park – “explore the woodland and wildflower meadows to discover the bugs that inhabit these areas. Afterwards join the Ranger for a craft activity” – more details
