Black History Month Elizabeth I Art day

Five Africans visited London in the 1550s, brought back along with an elephant’s head, ivory, pepper and gold: parish registers show a scattering of black Londoners setting up home in the Elizabethan period. By 1601 royal proclamations suggest that there was a sizable black community. Imagine yourself back in time by trying on our Tudor costumes and taking photographs or sketching friends and family to show the diversity of the Tudor community.

Copped Hall Monthly Guided Tour

A historic country house that has been saved from demolition and is being painstakingly renovated. Tours last about 2 hours 30 min – 3 hours and cover the whole of the gardens, a large part of the mansion, the cellars and the stables.
