There are steam trains running in Essex most weekends and during the summer.
The Colne Valley Railway has lots of special events, and Thomas the Tank Engine is a regular visitor.
Thomas also visits the East Anglian Railway Museum, which has it’s regular steam days, and the museum is being expanded. For the children, the cafe and the shop might be more important….
The Epping Ongar Railway is going from strength to strength, on the longest stretch of track in Essex.
And there’s Mangapps Railway Museum, a rather jolly private museum with working trains in Burnham on Crouch.
And there’s also Audley End Miniature Railway.
