The Bricklayers, Colchester.

Just a short word of appreciation for my favourite pub in Colchester – The Bricklayers, at the bottom of Bergholt Road, 5 minutes walk (if that) from Colchester North railway station.
It’s an Adnams pub, and has a wide variety of their beers as they come in and out of season, and also an excellent range of beers from breweries across the country. There are several on tap at one time, and almost invariably there’s either a stout, porter, old ale or mild for those of us whose palates lean that way rather than towards bitter. I’ve put a pic of the beer list from our visit yesterday below, and can recommend the Elgood Black Dog mild – at 3.5% eminently quaffable. Below that is a pic of an earlier list, to give an indication of how the beer list varies. The Adnams Stout at the top of that older list was their Dry Irish Stout, the only regret about which was that I didn’t have enough pints of it when it was available.
