The Three Horseshoes, Duton Hill
Posted on 29 May 2011 by Mark Watson

On the way back from Audley End today we popped into The Three Horseshoes on Duton Hill, who were holding their regular late Spring Bank Holiday beer festival. It’s the first time we’ve been there, and it’s a bit … eccentric! In a nice enough way though – the outside of the pub is adorned with old metal posters, and the inside is similarly decorated in an ‘interesting’ fashion.
The ten beers on offer in the beerfest were an eclectic range. The Shalford Dark Mild was on, so I had that, and the others were from all points N S E and W. The festival was at the side of the pub in a room that looked suspiciously like an old garage, with just enough room for the casks, a bar, one row of chairs for the audience, and a couple of chairs for the live music on offer. With the punter buying the beer standing between the two! Hot food was on offer as well.
The landlord was clearly on good terms with all and sundry, and a pub to check out again for a longer sessions when the weather is nice – the long garden looked similarly non-bogstandard.
