Walton on the Naze on a bright October Sunday

We’ve had several weeks of very dismal weather in Essex of late, so having had a sunny Saturday yesterday, with the promise of a similar day today, we headed off to Walton on the Naze for some fresh air and a bit of exercise (and, it has to be said, some fish and chips!)

On busy summer days we tend to park up on the greensward near the Naze Tower, but off season we park up on Cliff Parade above the beach huts towards the north of the town. Heading down to the walk in front of those huts, we were impressed to see a man and his son in the sea with their body boards.  Whilst there were some pretty big waves where they were at the north of the beach, heading towards the pier the waves became even bigger, pounding ferociously against the sea walls.
