Battlesbridge Antiques Centre
We’ve been meaning to visit Battlesbridge for some time, and go there yesterday on a lovely Spring morning. We were surprised at just how much there is there!
The Battlesbridge Antiques Centre is one of several places selling antiques in the village, which is close to Chelmsford on the A130. It’s set in a series of old barns and farm buildings, and as it was a lovely early spring day the stalls had lots of items outside on display. There are stalls selling garden furniture, pots and ornaments, whilst others sell lots of household items including linen, china and glass. There’s a stall selling vinyl records, and one selling 1960s clothes. Most of the items on sale are from the early to mid 20th century – although there’s a fair selection of stalls selling items and memorabilia from the 70’s and 80’s – which can make you feel very old if you are over a certain age! There’s a lot of pine furniture, garden stonework, and a scary stall that will please the Goths!
It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for something different for the house and garden or are just in the mood for a bit of nostalgia. Plan on spending a good couple of hours there, more if you eat at the excellent Barge Inn as we did – blog here. More about the Battlesbridge Antiques Centre on their website.
