“Two beautiful, but very contrasting gardens in the village of Bradfield, bordering on the Stour Estuary in north east Essex.
Chippins an artist’s and plantaholics’ paradise, packed with interest. Spring heralds hostas, aquilegia and irises. Includes meandering stream, wildlife pond and Horace the Huge! Summer hosts a colour explosion with daylilies and rambling roses. The front garden has an abundance of tubs and hanging baskets. Also includes an exotic border with cannas, dahlias and cacti. Studio in conservatory with paintings and etching press.
2 Hope Cottages, a new garden opening for the first time for the NGS is a tranquil, country style garden overlooking the serene, open countryside. The beautifully planted garden reflects the owner’s love of trees. In early summer the rich variety of roses and peonies give the garden a soft, romantic feel. Followed later with splashes of vibrant colour from dahlias, salvias, agapanthus and sweet peas.”
