Rowhedge

About Rowhedge

A small village to the east of Colchester on the River Colne, and almost opposite Wivenhoe. As with Wivenhoe, the village grew thanks to shipbuilding, but the yards are now mostly replaced by new housing.

There are a couple of pubs by the river, and a little greensward, giving you a chance to sit and drink and watch scenes like this :

But if you don’t like your beer, or sitting and watching a quiet river, there is probably not much else for you to do! Watch out for their annual regatta.

Getting there and getting about

Accessible by road either through Colchester’s Old Heath Road, or via the Mersea Road and Fingringhoe.
